Several of our members participated in The 5th Annual Kansas Legacy Run. The ride began on June 6th in Wichita and ended on June 9th in El Dorado.
The total miles for the Legacy Run was close to 1200. All together there were more than 50 riders from different Post in Kansas.
The Legacy Run was started nationally to provide a scholarship opportunity for children of those military members who lost their lives while serving our country. This fund has now been extended to include children of post 9/11 era and disabled veterans who are considered to be more than 50% disabled.
The American Legion Riders participated in a wreath laying ceremony in several small towns across Kansas.
Here are just a few of those towns:
Sterling-Ellinwood-Dorrance-Hays-Russell-Beloit-Clay Center-Strong City-Cottonwood Falls.
Every town that we went to gave us a police/sheriff escort and there were residents out waving flags. It made you proud to be an American!
The average miles each day was 200-250.
The days were long and hot, but In the end it was well worth the ride.
