Stop By The Legion On Thursday For Dinner!!

Sturgis South Dakota

cabin 9We all made it to South Dakota and back, safe and sound. That part of the country is absolutely beautiful. The cabin that Andie had reserved for us was perfect. The scenery was incredible.

Going to and from the cabin was quite the challenge (a couple miles of gravel) but once you arrived at the cabin, it was worth the ride.

There were a lot of pictures taken by different people in our American Legion Riders group, not all of them are posted here on our website. The following slideshows are separated by different categories.

Here is the road to the cabin…..

Like I mentioned earlier, the ride was well worth it………..

We would all leave early in the morning to go sightseeing/riding and then return sometime in the early evening.  Some of the group hung out in the kitchen around a huge island while others went outside on the deck for a drink and to take in the spectacular views.  It was a great time!

Since we were a big group, fifteen in all, we broke up into two separate groups.  Both groups went to the same places, just at different times.  One stop for pictures was at the Pactola Dam.

Here is a funny little story while our group stopped to take pictures at The Badlands National Park. A man from Poland was taking pictures where we had stopped. He saw all of us dressed in our motorcycle attire (American Legion Riders vest etc.) and asked if he could have a picture taken with us. Of course we said yes. He was so happy to have a picture with a motorcycle group.

The next slideshow is our ride to Badlands National Park. While riding through the Badlands you see so many different colors in the rocks due to erosion: purple and yellow (shale), tan and gray (sand and gravel), red and orange (iron oxides) and white (volcanic ash).

There are so many beautiful places to go for a ride near Sturgis, South Dakota.  On one of those rides we went through Spearfish Canyon. It is a beautiful 20 mile ride through the canyon on US Highway 14A.
